The baptism record (FamilySearch) is in the name Emily Vieda, but I have not seen the register. In the 1921 England Census Emily Veida's father declared her name to be 'Emily Veda'. In 1921 Emily Veida was attending school 'Whole Time'. From The Runcorn Weekly News of 14 March 1996: "Surprise 80th birthday party - VEIDA Chrimes thought she was just popping in for a cup of tea with some members of the Frodsham Guides, Brownies and Rainbows at their Courthouse HQ. But the cuppa turned in to a suprise party to celebrate her 80th birthday! Miss Chrimes, who joined the 3rd Frodsham Guide Company in 1929, stayed on and helped run the company until the Second World War broke out. After the war she helped the 2nd Frodsham until 1951, taking charge two years later. She remained a guider until 1981, but still offered a helping hand for several years more ...". Emily Veida's death record implies that she did not marry. Emily Veida appears to have lived at the same address for all of her 85 years. Find-a-Grave has an excellent photograph of the headstone of the grave of Gladys Winifred and her sister Emily Veida. |
