Following the death of her mother when Ivy was one year old, she was adopted by a GUNNING couple, but retained her birth surname until marriage.
From The Crewe Chronicle of 30 December 1939: "Mr. A Davies and Miss I Chrimes [sic] At St. John's Church, on Saturday, Mr. Albert Davies, eldest son of Mr., and Mrs. J Davies, Meredith-street, was married to Miss I▮▮ Crimes, the adopted daughter of Mr and Mrs. T.H. Gunning, 128 Ruskin-road. The Rev. C.M. Johnstone performed the ceremony. Dressed in white taffeta .... Two bridesmaids were in attendance - Misses D Crimes (sister) and M Davies (sister of the bridegroom) ... Mr. T Gunning gave his daughter away and the best man was Mr. C.H. Sant ... There were 75 guests at the reception, which was held at the N.U.R. Club."
Another researcher shows that Ivy died July 2010 Walney Island, Cumbria (unsourced).
