From The Liverpool Echo of 11 March 1975: "Milkman is sent for trial. A 23-years-old man was committed for trial to Chester Crown Court, by the city's magistrates, charged with causing death by dangerous driving. John Herbert Lewis, a milkman, of Hartington Street, Handbridge, Chester, is charged with causing the death of Mrs. Kathleen Chrimes, at Chester on September 8, by dangerous driving. He was remanded on £100 bail." Kathleen Bennett's Grant of Administration reads: "CRIMES, Kathleen Bennett of 23 Willington Rd Duddon Tarporley Cheshire died 24 October 1974 Administration Sheffield 16 July [1975] £708" The apparent contradiction of dates of death suggests that Kathleen Bennett did not die on the day of the accident, but died later, perhaps in hospital. Kathleen Bennett's death was not registered until 1975 Q2, perhaps delayed by the need for an inquest. |
