In the 1871 census, Mary was living with her brother Thomas's family In the 1881 census, Mary was living with her aunt Mary Lydiate In the 1901 census Mary was aged 44, single, living with her sister Ann at Bratt's Bank (also known as Moss Lane). In the 1911 census Mary was in Norley, living with her sister Alice. The 1911 England Census gives the location of Moss Lane as Crowton, which is strictly correct according to the irregular parish boundary, but Moss Lane is for all practical purposes in Norley. In the 1921 England Census Mary and Alice, both single, were still living together. In the 1921 England Census return Mary describes her occupation as 'Domestic Work - Own Account - At Home". Whether this was paid employment is not clear. Mary's Administration Record reads: "Chrimes Mary of Burgess's Lane Norley Cheshire spinster died 27 September 1925 Administration London 13 March to Thomas Chrimes retired builder. Effects £75 0s 3d" |
