This is not Samuel John HOLDER b.1886 Q1 Walsall as that Samuel died in infancy. Samuel James lost his first wife Elizabeth at the age of 28 years. The 1921 England Census shows Samuel James living at Darlaston with his second wife Kate and two of his children (Violet May and Samuel James Jnr.) from his first marriage. In 1921 Samuel James was a stoker 'for Steel Furnaces' and was employed by Patent Shaft & Axletree Co. Ltd. at Lea Brook, Wednesbury. The 1939 Register shows that Samuel James was (at least) 8 years older than his second wife Kate. The death record is chosen based on age, location and elimination but gives an implied birth year of 1885. |
