"Philip A T" was admitted to Gravel Hill National and Church Of England School, Shrewsbury on 3 July 1911. He left that school on 24 July 1914 - "Won Scholarship". In 1911 James, Mary Ellen, Kathleen Mary T and Philip Arthur Tyrer were living in Ludlow, Shropshire. Philip Arthur Tyrer cannot be found on the 1921 England and Wales Census. He was not living with his parents at Ludlow. Philip Arthur Tyrer was awarded a CBE in the 1955 Queen's Birthday Honours List in his capacity as Chairman of the Singapore Harbour Board. From Debrett: "Chrimes, Philip Arthur Tyrer, CBE, born 1904, son of late James Chrimes; educated at St Paul's Sch, and Keble Coll, Oxford; formerly Chm and Gen Manager Singapore and Penang Harbour Boards, and Man Dir Singapore Slipway and Engineering Co Ltd; MICE and MIMechE; married 1938, Mary Josephine Graham; created CBE (Civil) 1955. Residence- Chinook, Horney Common, Maresfield, nr Uckfield, Sussex." Philip Arthur Tyrer's death was reported in The Times.
