John Johnson was named CRIMES at birth, and has that name on the 1841 census. He got his middle name from his mother's maiden name. However, the middle name is not used on the 1861 or 1871 England Census. I cannot find John on the 1881 England Census. The 1872 Deaths Index and burial records both give age at death as 31 years (should be 32) but these records cannot be assigned to any other John. The burial register entry reads: "1872 January 16 John Chrimes, Inquest, Abode: Halton Age 31" suggesting a suspicious death. Perhaps John's occupation as Railway Labourer took him across the Mersey into Lancashire and placed him in danger? |
