For proof of John's birth in Warrington, England see the 1930 death record of his son William Plunket CHRIMES. John emigrated to the USA and started what became a large CHRIMES family there. Although we know that he was born in Warrington in about 1823, and that his father was John, there are in fact two candidates for his parents. However, John's biography (see below) confirms his parents as they are shown here. John's wife Lydia was a widow in the US Census of 1880, so John must have died between 1870 (birth of his last child) and 1880. John's death record is chosen on this basis, together with the credible location of Cook County, Illinois, USA. D G BREWICK has kindly contributed a document detailing The Descendants of John CHRIMES in the United States (opens in a New Window). D G BREWICK has also identified a recently digitised commemorative biography of John, which adds greatly to our knowledge of him (opens in a New Window). |
