From The Cheshire Observer of 23 February 1935: "GUN TRAGEDY AT BOWDON - Young Man Accidentally Shot. A tragedy at Bowdon resulted in the death of Joseph Ralph Chrimes [sic], aged 23, of Moss-lane Farm, Over Tabley, near Knutsford. He was one of a party of five young men who had been shooting rabbits at a farm at Bow Green, Bowdon, and they were preparing to return home in a motor car. The guns had been already placed in the back of the car, and Chrimes was in the act of putting a box of ferrets there. As he was leaning over, one of the guns exploded and the shot entered the top of his right leg. He was taken to Altrincham General Hospital, but on arrival was found to be dead."
Joseph Ralph's Grant of Administration reads: "CRIMES Joseph Ralph of Moss Lane Farm Over Tabley near Knutsford Cheshire died 15 February 1935 at Altrincham General Hospital Cheshire. Administration London 18 March to Charles Henry Crimes farmer. Effects: £254 11s. 5d."
