In 1921 Thomas was attending school 'Whole Time'. From The Chester Observer of 18 December 1937: "SAUGHALL - WEDDING On Wednesday, the wedding took place at All Saints' of Mr. Thomas Chrimes, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Chrimes, of Stanney, to Miss Nellie Houghton, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Houghton, of Saughall. The Vicar, Rev. Dr. E.L. Bond, officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of blue satin, with hat and shoes to match, and carried a bouquet of pink carnations. The bridesmaids, Miss Ellen Love and Miss Olive Houghton, were attired in pink gowns, with halos and shoes to match. The best man was Mr. S. Davies, of Stanney. Mr. W. Matthews was at the organ." From The Chester Chronicle of 17 February 1995: "MR THOMAS CHRIMES The funeral took place on January 9 at St Luke's Parish Church, Huntington, of Mr Thomas Chrimes, of Chester Road, Huntington, who died at home on January 2, aged 79. Born in Little Stanney, Mr Chrimes spent most of his life in Cedar Grove, Hoole, before moving recently to Huntington. He was employed for 45 years by Chester City and Cheshire County councils as a stonemason until his retirement in 1976. Mr Chrimes was a keen gardener and enjoyed attending concerts given by the Rhos Male Voice Choir and the Cestrian Male Voice Choir. The Vicar of Huntington, the Rev David Wilson, officiated at the service. Family mourners were: Mrs N Chrimes (wife), Mr and Mrs A Chrimes, Mrs M A Chrimes (son and daughters-in-law), Mr and Mrs J Micklethwaite (son-in-law and daughter), Mr and Mrs P Chrimes, Graham and Michael Chrimes, Nicola and Barry Micklethwiate, Mr and Mrs P Greenstreet (grandchildren and families), Mr and Mrs W E Chrimes, T Chrimes, Mrs E Evans (brothers, sister and sister-in-law) ... Also present were representatives of: Lookers, Chester; Lightfoot Lodge day car centre; Chester City Council; Cheshire County Council." Thomas's Grant of Probate reads: "CHRIMES, Thomas of 21 Chester Road Huntington Chester died 02 January 1995 Probate Liverpool 21 June." |
