In 1921 Joseph was attending school 'Whole Time'. From The Chester Chronicle of 7 March 1931: "The Chester Police Court ... The following came up on Tuesday before Ald. Wall: Joseph Peter Crimes (19), Patrick Joseph Dowd (17), Michael Henry Ash (19), and George Curley (24), all of Steven-street, Chester. They were charged with stealing a quantity of lead from the premises of Messrs. F.A. Frost's mill on the canal side, the property of Sir John Frost. The Chief Constable said that all the defendants admitted being associated with the charge, and as a consequence he was going to ask for a remand until Friday. ..." The assignment of the 1955 marriage to this Joseph is based on age (wife Bertha known to have been born 1908), location and elimination. The lack of children to the marriage supports this conclusion. From The Cheshire Observer of 4 May 1973: "BIRTHDAY REMEMBRANCES - CRIMES - Treasured birthday memories (1st May) of our dearest Mam, Polly; also our dear Brother Joe, 14th May; Also dear Father-in-law, Price Jones, 26th April - As we loved you, so we miss you - Mary, Peter, Etty, Johnny, Nelly, Mike, Flo, Joe and family." |
