In 1921 Mary was 'Out of Work' but had previously been employed by Heath Bros. of Blackfriar St., Salford. Mary was still single at the date of the 1939 Register. In 1939 Mary was living with her brother William and his wife. Mary's burial register entry reads: "Eccles Borough Cemetery; 35965; 20th December; Mary Crimes; 63 years; 39, Lord Nelson Steet, Salford 5; 3438;V;25092; R/C" Both the Deaths Index record and the burial register give age at death as 63 years, implying a birth year of 1908, which cannot be matched to any Mary in this research. However, the burial register (DeceasedOnline) gives Mary's address, which links her to Mary CRIMES b.1906. The birthday given on the Deaths Index does not match the birthday given on the 1939 Register. I suspect that in compiling the 1939 Register, the birthdays of Mary, and of her sister-in-law Mary J, living at the same address, have been transposed in error. Mary did not marry. |
