Wilfred was admitted to Crowton Church of England Primary School on 1 September 1903. He left that school on 25 April 1913 for "Farm".
From The Chester Chronicle of 11 November 1916: "DAMAGE TO TELEGRAPH INSULATORS. John Cheswynd, aged 13, of Acton Bridge, and Wilfred Chrimes, of Crowton, were summoned for attempting to break telegraph insulators at Crowton on Sunday, August 20th..... In the case of Chrimes, a companion named Roger Kearsley, farm labourer, stated that the defendant fired at the insulators with a catapult, but did not break any. - Each defendant was fined 20s."
Wilfred served in WWI as Private in the Cheshire Regiment and King's Shropshire Light Infantry.

Wilfred died whilst serving in WWI and is buried at Aubers Ridge British Cemetery, Aubers, France.
