I cannot find a birth index record for Herbert, but he was born a year before his parents (?) married, so his birth may be the one registered as SLATER 1883 Q4 Macclesfield. Herbert was named CRIMES on the 1891 UK Census but SLATER on the 1901 UK Census, at his marriage in 1910 and on the 1911 and 1921 England Census. Herbert was admitted to Lostock Gralam Church Of England Junior School in February 1894. In 1921 Herbert was employed by Dean and Johnson, Farmer of New Hall Farm, Over Peover. In 1921, also living with Herbert, were his two SLATER sons and his father-in-law Josiah MOSS. |
