A second baptism took place on 16 May 1901 at the Catholic Church of St. Francis of Assissi, Chester. James served in WWI as Private in the 12th Cheshire Regiment. Service Number: 12841 In 1921 England Census, James and Elizabeth were living in the household of Alfred HUGHES, and they were declared to be 'Brother-in-law' and 'Sister-in-law', suggesting that Elizabeth was the sister of Alfred's wife Mary. In 1921 James was employed by Walker Parker and Co. Ltd. Leadworks, of Chester. From The Cheshire Observer of 8 December 1945: "DEATHS CRIMES - On 29th November, 1945, at 10, Oak-road, Lache Estate, Chester, James Crimes, aged 56, beloved husband of Elizabeth Crimes." From The Chester Chronicle of 8 December 1945: "DEATH OF MR. J CRIMES - The death occured last Thursday of Mr. Jas. Crimes (56), 10, Oak-road, Lache Estate. He was a son of the late Mrs. Crimes, Handbridge, and had worked at Walkers Parker and Co., Leadworks, Chester, for 35 years, when he retired nine months' ago on account of ill-health. The funeral took place on Monday, the interment in Chester Cemetery following Requiem Mass at St. Anthony's R.C. Church. The mourners were the widow; Mr. and Mrs. E Crimes, Pte. J.A. Crimes, R.E., and John Crimes (sons and daughter-in-law); Mr. and Mrs. Weston (son-in-law and daughter), Mr. and Mrs. A Hughes, Mr. and Mrs. E Jones, Mrs. Derbyshire, and Mrs. Carlisle (brothers-in-law and sisters), Mr. and Mrs. J. Crimes (brother and sister-in-law), and the Misses Mary and Esther Crimes (nieces)..." References to the HUGHES, JONES, DERBYSHIRE and CARLISLE families are not consistent with this research - to be investigated. |
