I cannot find George Henry on the 1891 UK Census. From The Worcestershire Chronicle of 20 June 1896: "ALLEGED THEFT OF A CHEQUE FOR £111 Matthias Dimmock, the younger, was indicted for stealing, while a member of a co-partnership between George Henry Chrimes and himself, a cheque value £111, at Dudley on April 2 ... Mr. Chrimes, manager of Messrs. W. Chrimes and Son, ironmongers, Dockfords, Dudley, said that .... The jury found prisoner guilty, recommending him to mercy owing to the unsatisfactory way in which the books were kept. Prisoner was sentenced to four months' hard labour." From The Dudley Herald of 10 March 1900: "Joshua Wilkinson, Jun., has just been registered with a capital of £20,000 in £1 shares, to acquire and take over as a going concern the business now carried on by Joshua Wilkinson , Jun., at Upper and Lower Freebodies Works, Kate's Hill, Dudley, and the business now carried on by George H. Chrimes, at the Dock Forge, Dudley, aforesaid, and to carry on the business of anvil, vice, shovel, fork, and hammer manufacturers, smiths' toolmakers, ironfounders, manufacturers of iron and steel forgings, engineers, iron and steel merchants, etc...." George Henry's Grant of Probate record reads: "CHRIMES George Henry of 10 Queen's Cross Dudley Worcestershire died 28 February 1906 Probate London 9 June to Maria Dudley widow and Sarah Davies (wife of Frank Thomas Davies) Effects: £2306 5s 1d" Maria was George Henry's sister who had married John Oliver DUDLEY . |
