Tom was named GRIME at birth but in the 1901 UK Census was named CRIMES. I cannot find Tom on the 1911 England Census. A 1918 newspaper article refers to Tom's WWI service:"Tom, aged 22, attached to the loco. unit, is awaiting draft to France, when he will become a unit of that never-ending line of communication which has become the wonder of the world and without which we could not have so effectively turned the tables on the Hun." In 1921 Tom declared that he had previously been employed by L.N.W. Rly Coy. 1922-25 Electoral Register records for "County Asylum", Upton, Chester may apply. The 1924 marriage is in the name Thomas CRIMES The death record is in the name Tom GRIME. Tom's Grant of Probate reads: "GRIME, Tom or CRIMES, Tom of 35 Endsleigh Gdns Upton Heath Upton-by-Chester Cheshire died 14 October 1975 Probate Sheffield 13 January [1976] £7119." |
