The following newspaper item is assigned to this Joseph based on elimination, but is not otherwise confirmed: From The Macclesfield Courier and Herald of 9 January 1830: "CHESHIRE QUARTER SESSIONS Joseph Crimes, 16, charged with stealing a quantity of bread, butter, &c. from the dwelling-house of Wm. Ray, of Stockport." On the 1851 England Census Joseph was declared as married, but unmarried in 1871. I cannot find Joseph on the 1841, 1861 or 1871 England Census. Joseph's Proving of Will reads: "CRIMES Joseph. 29 September. The Will of Joseph Crimes late of New Hall street off Beech Lane Macclesfield in the County of Chester Yeoman who died 7 September 1881 at New Hall street was proved at Chester by Samuel Crimes of Fountain street Macclesfield Overlooker in a Silk Mill the Brother and Joseph Jackson of New Hall street Cotton Spinner the Executors. Personal Estate £82 19s 2d" Joseph's will is accessible online at FamilySearch.org. Joseph appears on the Index to Death Duty Registers for 1881. |
