It is possible that a record of admission to hospital during service in World War I (FindMyPast) relates to John Henry, though the record refers simply to "J H Chrimes" whose service number was 34228 and who served as a driver in the Royal Field Artillery. Another record, of the award of a medal (FindMypast) to 'John H Chrimes' confirms his service. Service Numbers: 34228, 223869 In the 1921 England Census, John Henry was a boarder with a GEE family. In 1921 John Henry was employed as Permanent Way, Relay Underman for Midland Railway, Marple. In 1928 John Henry travelled alone to Canada but the UK death record is compelling as it gives the exact same date of birth as does the baptism record. |
