Mr. Chrimes joined the movement in 1923 and became president of the Eastbourne club in 1948. In recent years he had been the club's transport officer, and earned the admiration of fellow members for the way in which he organised car outings for the blind and for crippled children. Mr. Chrimes, who was a furrier in business in Terminus-road until his retirement, was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was at one time keenly interested in motor cycling and took a leading part in a local club. In recent years he went regularly to the Saffrons during county cricket week. During the war, while Mr. and Mrs. Chrimes were evacuated to Torquay, their Eastbourne home received a direct hit. When they returned they moved to Polegate." |
