Philip was named CRIMES at birth. From The Manchester Times of 10 August 1844: "James Boon, Philip Crimes, and Andrew Cockram, of Knutsford, were charged with having thrown a quantity of wet sods through the bedroom window of John Cope, labourer, and damaging the bed-clothes. This description of annoyance is easily perpetrated and not infrequent. The room windows of the cottages are exceedingly low, and during the hot summer nights are left open to inhale the early morning breeze; consequently the prisoners found no difficulty in gratifying their propensity to mischief - They were bound over to keep the peace for twelve months, and pay the expenses." I cannot find Philip on the 1851 UK Census. He used the name CHRIMES at marriage Philip was admitted as a pauper to Chester Lunatic Asylum on 15 June 1866 and died there on 12 May 1867 Philip was named CRIMES at his death. |
