There is a 'Manchester Rate Books' record for 1859 showing 'W & E Crimes', William Crimes and 'Edmd' Crimes occupying a 'House & Shop' at 125 Deansgate, Manchester.

From The Manchester Courier and Lancashire General Advertiser of 26 December 1865: "PARTNERSHIPS DISSOLVED ...William Crimes and Edward Crimes, Deansgate, Manchester, grocers..."
From The Manchester Evening News of 15 February 1873: "COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE A meeting of the creditors of Mr. William Crimes, of Manchester, pawnbroker and grocer, was held yesterday, at the offices of Messrs. Addleshaw and Warburton, solicitors, King-street, when a statement was submiited, showing liabilities £2,534, and assets £2,987. The debtor's offer of 20s. in the pound, payable by instalments, was accepted."
From The Manchester Times of 21 December 1889: "DEATHS CRIMES - On the 14th inst., at his residence, Derby Cottage, Broughton, William Crimes, age 70 years. - Was interred at St. Paul's Kersal, on Wednesday the 18th inst."
William appears in the Index to Death Duty Registers for 1889 as 'Crimes, William of Salford died 14 Dec 89 Executor Hannah Crimes.'
