William was born CRIMES William was still single in 1891, but married in 1901 with a first child born 1893, so William must have married 1891-1893 His 1892 marriage in Liverpool was in the name CRIMES William and family changed from CRIMES to CHRIMES at about 1892. In the 1911 UK Census William declared that five of his children had died, and they have been identified in this research. In 1921 William was Partner at Brook St. Garage, Neston, Cheshire. An intriguing set of notices in The London Gazette dated 1926 through to 1928 record the bankruptcy of a firm of which William was a partner, but he is named therein as 'William Edward Chrimes the Elder' a form of name not otherwise seen. Relationships and addresses
mean that we can be sure that the notices do indeed refer to William.
