An intriguing set of notices in The London Gazette dated 1926 through to 1928 record the bankruptcy of a firm of which William was a partner, but he is named therein as 'William Edward Chrimes the Elder' a form of name not otherwise seen. Relationships and addresses
mean that we can be sure that the notices do indeed refer to William. The partners are described as "CHRIMES, William Edward, the Elder, 25, Olive-road, Neston, in the county of Chester, Motor Repairer and Hawker, CHRIMES, will Edward, the Younger, 31, Gladstone-road, Neston aforesaid, Motor Repairer and Hawker, and CHRIMES, William Edward, of Chester-road, Neston aforesaid, Motor Repairer and Hawker, carrying on business in partnership under the style of W.E. CHRIMES and CO., at 1, Chester-road, Neston, and Brook-street, Neston aforesaid, as MOTOR REPAIRERS and HAWKERS" In the order given, relationships are father (this person), son, nephew. |
