From The Staffordshire Sentinel and Commercial and General Advertiser of 8 December 1855: "MACCLESFIELD - ACCIDENTS ... Hannah Crimes, aged fifteen years, was found drowned in the canal on Tuesday, at noon. It appears that she left her home in Byrom's-lane, on Monday morning, for her place of service, and was not heard of until she was found by T.H. Bould, of the borough police. An inquest was held upon the body, and a verdict returned of 'found drowned'." Sadly Hannah died at the age of 15 years. |
