Albert Edward was conscripted into military service during World War I but refused conscription, on the grounds of being a 'conscientious objector'. See Imperial War Museum (IWM) website https://livesofthefirstworldwar.iwm.org.uk/ for details of Albert Edward's imprisonment, Court Martial and sentence of Hard Labour. IWM cite as their source: The Pearce Register of British WW1 Conscientious Objectors.
I cannot find a record of a marriage of Albert Edward 1911-1920, so I presume that he did not marry.
