I cannot find a birth record for Robert, but his two marriages are recorded, as are the baptisms of his children.
Robert is head of the branch "Ollerton".
Philip Crimes has developed the following theory: "I... feel I can make a strong, if unsubstantiated, case for his being a son of Joseph CRIMES of Acton. Robert was married, firstly in 1715 at a time when the average age of marriage was 27 or 28 years. If he conformed to the average then he could have been born in the late 1680s, coinciding nicely with the marriage of Joseph CRIMES and Mary Williamson in 1687 cannot explain why he was named Robert, possibly after Joseph's grandfather Robert d 1647 or Joseph's uncle Robert d 1681. However, the naming of Robert's children adds strength to my supposition:
Anne CRIMES, eldest dau b 1716, do not know the name of her mother Mary Moors parents to help make an assessment
Joseph CRIMES b 1719 eldest son, named after Robert's father Joseph CRIMES?
Samuel CRIMES b 1721, 2nd son, named after Robert's brother Samuel b 1699?
Mary CRIMES b 1722, 2nd dau, named after Robert's mother Mary nee WILLIAMSON?
Hannah CRIMES b 1724 3rd dau, named after Robert's aunt Hanna b1669 dau of Robert CHRIMES of Gorstage, who m. Philip BILLINGTON?
John CRIMES b 1727, 3rd son, named after Robert's father in law John HENSHAW of Withington?
Sarah CRIMES d 1736, 4th dau named after Robert's wife Sarah HENSHAW?
Robert CRIMES b 1734, 4th son named after Robert himself?
A final pointer to my suggested link is the intriguing burial in Weaverham on 30 May 1703 of Mary (Maria in BT) CHRIMES of Mobberley. Could she have been the wife of Joseph CRIMES of Acton, lending further credibility to the move from Weaverham to Ollerton."
In my opinion the 1703 Weaverham burial of a Mary resident at Mobberley is more convincing than the children's names, but overall I am not sufficiently convinced to make the father/son link in this database.
