The 1884 Tarporley baptism record, in giving the birth date as 31 August, is presumed to relate to an 1883 birth year, which then aligns with the Chorlton births index record. Ernest's sister Jessie was also born Manchester, baptised Tarporley, the records being clearer in her case.
I cannot find Ernest on the 1891 UK Census.
CheshireBMD gives location of the 1912 marriage as "Chester, Civil Marriage or Registrar Attended" though Ernest's siblings had Methodist marriages.
In 1921 Ernest was employed by Cheshire Lines Railway at Manchester.
In the 1921 England Census Ernest declared that he was born at Tarporley which, though wrong, is understandable. See above.
From The Manchester Evening News of 2 November 1946: "CRIMES - On Oct 31 at M.R.I., ERNEST, aged 63, dearly-loved husband of Annie CRIMES, 357, Princes Road, Moss Side. Service Congregational Church, Claremont Road, Monday, 1 45; commital Manchester Crematorium, 2 30."
Ernest's Grant of Administration reads: "CRIMES Ernest of 357 Princess Road Manchester 14 died 31 October 1946 at Royal Infirmary Manchester 13. Administration Manchester 3 January [1947] to Ann Crimes widow. Effects: £867 9s.1d."
