Alfred Charles settled in USA and started what became a large family. Alfred Charles was born Alfred CRIMES at Tarvin, Chester, England in 1884. 1. Alfred CRIMES does not appear on the 1911 England Census 2. Alfred's parents and siblings do appear on the 1911 England Census, by which time they had changed their name to CHRIMES. 3. Alfred CHRIMES gave his year of entry to US as 1907/08 4. Alfred CHRIMES appears on the 1910 US Census (he has changed his name to CHRIMES but not yet added the middle name Charles) as a single man. 5. Alfred C CHRIMES must have married between 1910 (single) and 1912 (first child). His 1910 marriage record is on FamilySearch.org, giving his parents' names as Thomas and Mary, the same as for Alfred CRIMES. 6. Alfred used the middle name Charles in his WWI draft record. 7. Alfred C CHRIMES appears on the 1920 US Census by which date he had four children. 8. On his US Naturalization Record (1921) Alfred Charles CHRIMES gave his place of birth as Chester, England, which is consistent with the Tarvin birth of Alfred CRIMES. Alfred Charles CHRIMES gave his date of birth as 7 December 1884, though the birth of Alfred CRIMES was registered in January-March 1884. This discrepancy cannot be explained. In the 1940 US Census Alfred Charles's wife Ora was a widow, so Alfred Charles must have died between 1935 and 1940. |
