From The Chester Chronicle of 8 April 1916: "OSCROFT OBITUARY - It is with regret we announce the death of Mrs. Joseph Crimes, of Oscroft. Deceased had only been ill for a short time, and succumbed to pneumonia on Wednesday. Great sympathy is extended to Mr. Crimes in his sudden bereavement."
From The Chester Chronicle of 15 April 1916: "FUNERAL OF MRS. JOSEPH CRIMES - The funeral took place in St. Andrew's Churchyard on Saturday of Mrs. Joseph Crimes, of Oscroft, whose sudden death we announced last week. The vicar, the Rev. J.H. Wilcockson, officiated. The chief mourners were Mr. Crimes (widower), Mrs. Astbury, Utkinton (sister), Mr. J. Craven, Leicester; Mr. and Mrs. Philip Craven, Manchester; Mr. Alfred Craven, Vicar's Cross; Mr. Harry Crimes...."
