In 1921 Frederick William was employed by A.J. Young & Co. of Newmarket, Suffolk. Frederick William's middle name and his year of birth are taken from his marriage certificate. From J R CHRIMES: "After leaving school he became a motor mechanic and driver, joining the Territorial Army Service Corps for 4 years. On 23/1/1915 he enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps as a motor fitter and was posted to eastern Greece until the end of the war, after which he was employed by the Automobile Association. His father Charles and grandfather Samuel were blacksmiths living in Moulton near Newmarket." |
