Truman J was often named Thurman, including in his obituary: "Dr. Thurman Crymes dies at Greenwood. Well Known Dentist Succumbs Suddenly - Funeral Services at Home This Afternoon. Special to "The State". Greenwood Jan 16 - Greenwood was shocked today to hear of the sudden death of Dr. Thurman J Crymes, one of the best known dentists in the state, and one of the city's leading citizens. He had been in accustomed health but was taken ill soon after breakfast this morning. A physician was immediately called but he succumbed before medical aid arrived. Funeral servives will be held at the late residence at 3:30 o'clock Monday afternoon and the interment will be in Magnolia Street cemetery. Dr. Crymes, a former president of the State Dental association and at the time of his death a member of the board of governors, had practiced his profession in Greenwood for 30 years. He was born in Williamston March 17 1869. After attending the Williamston school he went to Furman [?] where he graduated. Later he finished at the University of Pennsylvania dental department and Jefferson Medical college. In addition to being a leader in his chosen profession, he was a man active in public affairs and in church work. He was a Presbyterian. Surviving Dr. Crymes are his wife, one son, J. Westmoreland Crymes of the Greenwood bar; two brothers, J. E. Crymes of Greenwood and T. G. Crymes of Greenville, and one sister, Mrs. Nina Watson of Columbia." |
