| Morita's obituary reads: "Bateman, Morita Matthews Crymes, 87, died, October 9, 2013 in Wichita, Kansas. She grew up in Greenwood, Newberry and Easley, South Carolina and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduating from the University of North Carolina with a Masters Degree in Physics, Morita married Wm A. Courtenay Bateman, Jr., now deceased. The couple moved to Wichita, Kansas where they worked for Boeing Aircraft as Engineers and raised two children. Later, Morita left Boeing to pursue her Ph.D. in the new field of Operations Research. After graduation, she joined Wichita State University as a Professor in the School of Business. After thirty years of teaching, she retired to a life of reading and conversation. She is survived by son W▮. A. Courtenay Bateman III, daughter M▮▮▮▮▮ C. Bruce, and granddaughters Jenna and Sandra. Morita will be inurned in Magnolia Cemetery in Greenwood, South Carolina." |
