From the newspaper report of his new business venture in 1971: "Gary K Crymes, a native of Edmonds, has recently purchased the Big Scoop Ice Cream Sundae Palace..... Both Crymes and his wife, the former K▮▮ Triplett of Mountlake Terrace, will be working in the store.... Crymes was born in Edmonds next to what is now the Edmonds Jnr. High School. His mother is also an Edmonds native; his father has lived there since 1917. Crymes attanded Edmonds schools, graduating from Edmonds High School in 1952. He served in the U S Army (Airborne) in Germany from 1956 to 1858. He and his wife and his two chidlren, T▮▮▮, 11 and G▮▮▮, 9 now reside in Lynnwood. Before deciding to enter business for himself, Crymes spent several years as a cinematographer for motion pictures and television. In addition to being a cameraman, he edited and directed. An avid skindiver, he is a member of the Underwater Society of America, Washington Council of Skindiving Clubs; and has been an officer in the Puget Sound Mud Sharks."
