Ernest Rutledge's newspaper obituary reads: "Luray July 5 [1953] - A funeral service will be held in Washington at noon Tuesday at Fort Lincoln Cemetery for Ernest Rutledge Crymes, 79, of Luray, formerly of Washington. A viewing of the body will be held at the chapel at Fort Lincoln at 12. Mr. Crymes died Friday morning at his home on Main Street in Luray. He had been ill for two years. With his wife he moved here from Washington three years ago. He had been in charge of the shipping department of the National Publishing Co. in Washington for 33 years. Mr. Crymes was a son of the late Thomas and Laura Lambert Crymes of Alexandria, and was a member of the Alexandria Methodist Church. He is survived by his widow, the former Edith Jobe, of Luray; a brother, Carlton L Crymes, Washington, and a sister, Mrs. C R Keith, Alexandria."
