Richard is known only in London but is connected to Northwich, Cheshire by his will, which includes: "... To the churchwardens and parishioners of the parish of Wytton, co. Chester, one hundred pounds towards the maintenance of "the Crymesethe" and the bridge of the town of Northewiche in the said parish of Witton, and a like sum for those of his own surname dwelling in and about Northewiche..." This fascinating extract proves that the CRYMES of Peckham, London, Devon and Virginia originate from mid-Cheshire as do (probably) all other CHRIMES/CRIMES/CHRYMES/CRYMES. Although Witton is now just a small district within Northwich, it gives its name to the parish containing them both. As yet, there is no branch named Witton or Northwich within this research, though many subjects of this research were, and continue to be, living there. Northwich is just 3 miles from Weaverham, another ancient parish, which is considered to be at the geographic centre of the original CHRIMES/CRIMES/CHRYMES/CRYMES distribution. Other children of Richard may be Mary who married Thomas CHESTER, and unknown female who married Thomas PURSLOWE, these inferred from Richard's will. |
