By analysis of Electoral Register records, it seems that Eleanor Rose started using the surname Chrimes from 1955, even though she did not marry William Rowlinson CHRIMES until 1972. This goes some way to explaining why the 1972 marriage is indexed in both names Chrimes and McGuff. From The London Gazette, Civil Service Appointments, June 1976: "CHRIMES, Mrs. Eleanor Rose, Examiner II, Birmingham". |
