From The Warrington Examiner of 2 September 1899: "DEATH OF MR. ROBERT CHAPMAN It is with regret we learn of the death of Mr. Robert Chapman, landlord of the Bowling Green Arms, Chester, which occurred on Wednesday about noon, with lamentable suddenness. Mr. Chapman was well-known in Warrington and Runcorn, being a near relative of many respected residents of both places. He leaves a widow, and family of four children, the eldest of whom is about eleven years. General sympathy is expressed on all hands with the sorrowing relatives, and especially the young widow. The deceased, who was a native of Gresford, married Miss Chrimes, the eldest daughter of the late Mr. Joseph Chrimes, who was Mayor of Warrington in 1855-6-7. For many years Mr. Chapman was traveller for Mr. John Geddes, tea merchant, Warrington." |
