From The Northwich Chronicle of 9 December 1982: "Woman saved from icy death - SIX ICI saltworkers saved an elderly woman from an icy death in the River Weaver last week. ... The rescue began when Mr. B▮▮▮▮▮▮ Chrimes, an employee at the Winsford Salt Mine, saw something floating on the river at New Bridge, Meadowbank, and realised it was a person. He raced back to the mine and met five colleagues taking a lunchtime stroll. They ran back to the river with a rope ... The woman, who comes from Moulton, was taken to Leighton Hospital where she is recovering. Mine manager, Mr. Tom Willington, said: 'We are very proud of the lads. They obviously saved the woman's life.'"
