Arthur James was admitted to Chester College School on 18 October 1909, having previously attended "Helsby Church" school. He left the Chester school on 18 November 1910, having "Left City". In 1921 Arthur James was employed by S. Wilson of Holly Mount, Norley. From The Winsford Chronicle of 23 December 1975: "OBITUARY - MR. A.J. CHRIMES The funeral was held at Norley Parish Church last Thursday (December 18) of Mr. Arthur James Chrimes, aged 76, of Crown Cottages, Oakmere, who died at his home on Sunday December 14. Mr. Chrimes is survived by his wife Mrs. Annie Chrimes, sons Leslie and B▮▮▮▮▮▮, and daughter H▮▮▮▮. He was born in West Kirby but spent most of his younger life in Norley. Mr. and Mrs. Chrimes were married at Weaverham Parish in 1934, before moving to Oakmere. Prior to his retirement 11 years ago, Mr. Chrimes was employed by I.C.I. at their Avenue Works at Winnington. In his younger days he was a gardener at Norley and at The Rectory, Delamere. The Vicar of Norley, the Rev. J. Horsley, officiated at the funeral service prior to interment in the churchyard. The mourners were Mrs. Annie Chrimes (wife), Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Chrimes, Mr.and Mrs. B▮▮▮▮▮▮ Chrimes (sons and daughters-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. D▮▮▮▮ Parry Jones (son-in-law and daughter), ..." Arthur James's Grant of Administration reads: "CHRIMES, Arthur James of Crown Cottages Oakmere Northwich Cheshire died 14 December 1975 Administration Sheffield 25 March [1981] £3967". The gravestone (see www.billiongraves.com) is inscribed: "In loving memory of a dearly loved husband and father Arthur James Chrimes. Born November 3rd 1899. Died December 14th 1975." |
