From The Crewe Chronicle of 28 October 1961: "WEDDINGS - MR. E.W. CHRIMES AND MISS J▮▮▮ WOODCOCK [PHOTOGRAPH] The wedding took place at Tarporley Parish Church on Saturday of Mr. Eric William Chrimes, of Brick Bank, Willington, and Miss J▮▮▮ E▮▮▮▮▮▮▮▮ Woodcock, of 18, Birch Heath, Tarporley. The Rector (the Rev. C.R. Heywood) officiated. The bride, given in marriage by her father, Mr. L Woodcock, wore a white silk brocade gown with a diamante and pearl headdress and an elbow-length veil. Her bouquet was of dark pink roses. Her attendants were Mrs. I▮▮▮▮ Remelie, matron of honour, and Miss P▮▮▮▮▮▮ Woodcock (sisters) and Miss O▮▮▮▮ Chrimes and Miss A▮▮▮▮▮ Chrimes (bridegroom's sisters). Mrs. Remelie and Miss O▮▮▮▮ Chrimes wore short pale green brocade dresses and Miss Woodcock and Miss A▮▮▮▮▮ Chrimes, who were the small bridesmaids, wore short pink nylon dresses. Mr. J▮▮▮▮ Chrimes (bridegroom's brother) was best man. Sixty guests attended a reception in Tarporley Community Centre. Afterwards the couple left for their moneymoon, the bride wearing a royal blue suit and white accessories." The references to siblings O▮▮▮▮, A▮▮▮▮▮ and J▮▮▮▮ links Eric William firmly to his father, but his Births Index record for 1933 Q1 mother WILKINSON, before his father Harold Hamilton married Annie WRIGHT in 1935, suggests that he may have been an illegitimate child. It is notable that the wedding report does not name Eric William's parents. It was previously thought that Eric William was the child of Noah CHRIMES b.1890 and Louisa WILKINSON, of Crowton, but that is now discounted by the wedding report. From The Chester Chronicle of 11 April 1980: "In Memoriam CHRIMES (Eric) - April 11th, 1979 - Time passes, memories stay. - Loved and remembered always, J▮▮▮, J▮▮▮▮, J▮▮▮, C▮▮▮▮▮▮▮▮ and S▮▮▮▮▮▮." |
