W.r.t. the 1921 England Census, "Cottage House" appears to have been an institution administered by the Chester Board of Guardians, the residents being described as 'Boarder'. In the 1921 England Census Haold Hamilton was attending school 'Whole Time'. From The Liverpool Echo of 9 March 1934: "CHESTER ROAD ACCIDENT Harold Crimes, aged 18, of The Sheaf, Stapleford, Tarvin, when riding a pedal cycle, was involved in a collision with a motor-van belonging to Messrs. Thomas Scott, of Bootle, in Boughton, Chester, this afternoon. Crimes was taken to Chester Infirmary and detained suffering from head injuries." CheshireBMD gives the location of the 1935 marriage as "Chester, Civil Marriage or Registrar Attended". Harold Hamilton's middle name is taken from a DeceasedOnline.com record of his cremation, and:- From The Chester Chronicle of 6 May 1944: "TWO DEFENDANTS GET THREE MONTHS. At Oakmere Petty Sessions on Monday Frank Philip Holland (39), fitter, of 64, Kingsley road, Boughton Heath, Chester; Harold Hamilton Chrimes (28), fitter The Bungalow Sandy-lane, Tarvin; and Peter Basil Stevens (19), farm labourer, The Bungalow, Sandy-lane, Tarvin, all pleaded "Guilty" to stealing four ducks belonging to Mary Rutter, Stapleford Mill, Tarvin on April 29th..... Inspector Robison said Chrimes was fined £40 at Middlewich in August 1943, for theft. Holland was bound over at Lewes Assizes for the larceny of jewellery, and at Chester City Police Court in 1943 was fined for the larceny of jewellery, 43 other cases being taken into consideration. The Chairman (Col. Heaton) said that Holland and Chrimes would both go to prison for three months. As it was Stevens's first offence he would be fined £2." |
