In 1851 Thomas was still living in London, unmarried, with his two spinster sisters Mary and Sarah. Thomas's occupation was given as Solicitor. The 1851 Census record has been mis-written as CHIMES. I do not believe that Thomas married. From The Morning Post of 13 January 1859: "DEATHS - CHRIMES - On the 9th inst., at Brighton, Thomas Chrimes, Esq., late of Lincoln's-inn and Fortress-terrace, Kentish-town, aged fifty-one." Thomas's Proving of Will record reads: "CHRIMES Thomas 21 February The Will of Thomas Chrimes formerly of Lincoln's Inn the 24 Fortress Terrace Kentish Town in the County of Middlesex but late of Brighton in the County of Sussex Gentleman deceased who died 9 January 1859 at Brighton aforesaid was proved at the Principal Registry by the oaths of Mary Chrimes and Sarah Ann Chrimes both of Brighton aforesaid Spinsters the Sisters and the Executrixes. Effects under £3,000". Thomas appears on the Index to Death Duty Registers in 1859. |
