From The Widnes Examiner of 17 March 1888: "MARRIAGES At St. Paul's Church, Warrington - March 3rd., by the Rev. S. Wilkinson, M.A., vicar, Mr. John Chrimes to Miss Caroline Parkin." Alternative date of marriage (LOPC): 15 March 1888. John appears on the 1911 census at Warrington with his wife Caroline and their children Mary Ellen, Caroline and Elizabeth Ann. John declared that there was another child who had died before 1911. This was John Parkin b.1891 d.1893. John was initiated into the Saint Elphin Lodge of Freemasons at Warrington, Lancashire on 18 July 1911. In the 1921 England Census return, John declared his age to be 54 years and 11 months, whereas he was in fact 53 years old. In 1921 John was 'Employer' working 'At Home'. The website www.closedpubs.co.uk includes "The Ship Inn was situated at 58 Liverpool Road. The publican in 1895 was Mrs Agnes Jenks." which tells us that John's residences in 1921 and 1927 were in fact the same. John's Grant of Probate record reads: "Chrimes John of The Ship Inn Liverpool Road Warrington died 6 May 1927 Probate Liverpool 20 July to Caroline Chrimes widow. Effects £3,689 11s" See www.billiongraves.com for an image of the gravestone. |
