In the 1921 England Census Frederick Joseph and his mother Ruth were 'Visitors' at Ruth's parents. Frederick Joseph was a Merchant Seaman. From The Staffordshire Sentinel of 21 December 1954: "... Frederick Joseph Crimes, of Ellesmere Port, was fined £2, with costs, when he pleaded Not Guilty to driving a tanker without due care in Newcastle-road, Shavington [Crewe]. Chief Inspector T. Rogers said that the proceedings arose from a collision between the tanker and a horse box driven by Mr. Foden. A five-ton lorry was also involved. Police-constable Goolding said Crimes made a statement in which he said that a horse box suddenly pulled up in front of him without a signal from the driver. He braked hard, saw that he could not avoid hitting the horse box and pulled out to the offside. In doing so he collided with a lorry." Frederick Joseph's Grant of Administration reads: "CRIMES, Frederick Joseph of 495 Old Chester Rd Dacrehill Rock Ferry Birkenhead died 7 October 1984 Administration Liverpool 6 November." |
