Chester City and County School (Girls) - ... Josephine Crimes ..." From The Chester Chronicle of 22 September 1945: "FLIGHT-SERGEANT'S HOOLE BRIDE - CEREMONY AT PARISH CHURCH Nineteen-year-old Miss Josephine ('Josie') Crimes, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Crimes, 239, Hoole-lane, was married at All Saints' Church, Hoole, on Thursday, to Flight.-Sergt. David Hubert Anderson, only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Anderson, 295, Hoole-lane. The Rev. R.A.P. Gell officiated. The bride has been employed by the Ministry of Supply Timber Department, City-rd., Chester, since the war. Her father is a partner in the firm of Messrs. A. Crimes and Sons, Haulage contractors, of Hoole. Flight-Sergeant Anderson has been serving with the R.A.F. for three years and is an air gunner. He completed 30 operational flights. Before joining up, he was an employee of a Civil Service Dept. at Ewell, Surrey. The bride wore a white gown with wreath and veil and carried red roses. Miss Dorothy Middleton was bridesmaid and wore a blue gown and carried pink roses. Flt.-Sgt. Donald Evans and Mr. P. Chantler were best man and usher respectively. After a reception at Quaintways Cafe, Chester, bride and bridegroom left for Llandudno ..." A shorter report of the wedding in The Cheshire Observer of 29 September 1945 describes Josephine as "only child". |
