In the 1921 England Census Thomas's age was declared by his father to be 3 years and 5 months, leading to a birth date of January 1918. As Thomas's birth was registered in Q4 of 1917 this declaration must be incorrect. The date of birth given in the 1939 Register is consistent with the Births Index and is used here. From The Manchester Evening News of 24 February 1942: "DEATHS - CHRIMES - On Feb. 19, 1942, THOMAS, the beloved son of Sarah and Harry CHRIMES, aged 24 years, 20, Carlisle-street, Beswick. Service at St. Mary's Church at 2 15, prior to interment at Philips Park Cemetery at 3 p.m. on Wednesday." |
