Henry was admitted to St Philip Free National School, Hulme, Manchester on 26 January 1904, parent's name being given as Margaret, of 15 Matthews Street [Father Henry had died in 1900]. Previous school attended was recorded as "Halifax". In the 1918 Electoral Register Henry was listed as an 'Absent Voter' with military designation '1/5th S.Lancs Regt.' In the 1919 Electoral Register Henry was listed as an 'Absent Voter' with military designation '203770 Pte. 1/5th Bn. S. Lancs Regt.' In 1921 Henry was employed by Cooperative Wholesale Society of Broughton Lane, Manchester. Of the six children born to Henry and Sarah Jane, three died in infancy and one died aged 24, leaving two daughters who lived into adulthood. From The Manchester Evening News of 30 November 1943: "DEATHS - CHRIMES - On Nov. 25, 1943, at 20, Carlisle-street, Beswick, HENRY, the beloved husband of Sarah CHRIMES, aged 51 years (21 years' service with the C.W.S., Broughton). Service in St. Mary's Church, Beswick on Thursday at 2 15, prior to interment at Philips Park Cemetery at three o'clock." In the notice of the death of his son Thomas, Henry was named Harry. |
