Joseph was admitted to Hoole All Saints' And Westminster Road School, Chester on 22 August 1910. Previous school; "Westminster Infants". He left school on 14 February 1917 "To Work". In 1921 Joseph Wilfred was employed by Brook Hirst Electrical Engineers of Chester. In 1939 Joseph Wilfred and Ellen Elizabeth were living with Joseph Wilfred's parents. From The Cheshire Observer of 12 May 1967: "LONDON TRIP FOR SIX. Long service with Brookhirst. Next Tuesday will be a big day for three Chester men and their wives. They have just completed 50 years' service with the firm of Brookhirst Igranic, at Chester, and to mark the occasion they will be the guests in London of Mr. A.I. McKenzie, chairman of Metal Industries, which is B.H.I.'s parent company. The three men, who will take their wives on this all-expenses paid trip, are Mr. Joseph Crimes, of 145, Westminster Road, Hoole; .... Mr. Crimes is employed in the tool room, .... All three men are aged 64." From The Cheshire Observer of 26 April 1974: "FUNERAL OF MR. J.W. CRIMES. The death occurred recently of Mr. Joseph Wilfred Crimes, aged 71, of 145, Westminster Road, Hoole. Mr. Crimes, who was married, was formerly a metal pattern-maker. Mr. Crimes' main hobbies were gardening and fishing. The funeral took place on 17th April when a service at Westminster Road Baptist Church, Hoole, conducted by Rev. G. Vedder, was followed by cremation at Chester Crematorium. ..."
