"Stanley" was admitted to St Anthony's Roman Catholic School, Saltney on 15 January 1904, together with his brother Harold. He left that school on 23 December 1908: "At Lache School". "Stanley" was admitted to Saltney Wood Memorial County Primary School on 11 January 1909 together with his brother Harold. He left that school on 20 January 1911. William Stanley's gravestone is inscribed "243661 Private W.S. CRIMES Cheshire Regiment 19th May 1917" The Find-a-Grave record includes: "He was a private in the Cheshire Regiment, 4th Battalion. Service Number 243661. He died aged 20 yrs. He is also commemorated on Chester Town Hall War Memorial." |
