Mary's place of birth is taken from the 1911 and 1921 England Censuses. Mary's date of birth is given in the 1939 Register as 4 March 1883, but this is known to be unreliable as to year. The Births Index shows that Mary's birth was registered in 1882 Q1 at Prescot. Woolton, now part of Liverpool, was then within the Prescot registration district. The 1921 England Census gives age (at June 1921) as 39 years and 3 months, leading to a birth date of March 1882. A birth date of 4 March 1882 is the most likely. Mary's Grant of Probate record reads: "CHRIMES dame Mary of Bryn Helig Holyrood Avenue Colwyn Denbighshire (wife of sir William Bertram Chrimes) died 15 March 1952 Probate Liverpool 17 May to Martins Bank Limited Eileen Davies married woman and Henry Bertram Chrimes company director. Effects £9193 13s 5d." A Notice in The London Gazette of 24 June 1952 seeks claimants to the estate of "Chrimes, Lady Mary". |
